Words matter.
So does meaning.

EnglishCantoneseMandarin

I’m Miranda, a freelance interpreter and translator. I help people understand one another — with care for the words, the context and the person behind them.

Let’s discuss your project
For public services, charities & businessesSpoken with care. Written with clarity.

01 / Services

Across languages.
Without losing the meaning.

In the conversation.

Interpreting between English and Chinese — Cantonese and Mandarin — to support clear, thoughtful communication. I am trained in both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting.

  • Face-to-face interpreting
  • Telephone and video interpreting
  • Public-sector, charity and business settings

On the page.

Translation that pays attention to tone, cultural nuance and purpose, not just individual words. My work spans English and Chinese, including traditional and simplified Chinese writing.

  • Public-sector and business documentation
  • Medical records, court documents and educational forms
  • Bilingual documentation, negotiation and management

Every project has its own context. Tell me the languages, subject and timing you have in mind, and we can discuss the right approach.

02 / About Miranda

A qualified voice.
A human understanding.

I’m a native Cantonese speaker and a Chartered Linguist, working with English, Cantonese and Mandarin. My focus is on helping people communicate with confidence and understanding.

Before returning to the UK, I spent much of my career with multinational banks in Hong Kong, including Standard Chartered and the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. That experience shaped my appreciation of clear communication, professional integrity and trust.

Work that connects people

My public-service experience includes freelance interpreter registration with Leeds City Council and work with HSE. I also work with Clear Voice, an interpreting service supporting Migrant Help and its work with asylum seekers, refugees, and people affected by human trafficking and modern slavery.

This is the work that matters to me: making space for people to be heard and understood.

Meaning, not just words.

Cultural context shapes how we communicate. I pay attention to nuance so the intended meaning comes through.

Care with confidence.

Sensitive information deserves discretion. I respect my clients’ privacy and work with strict confidentiality.

Professional, personal.

High standards of bilingual proficiency, integrity and a thoughtful approach to each assignment.
